Well as a simulator its lacking, even quite bit lacking but the fun factor is very high. The most fun online driving simulator me thinks. ok one thing is clearly better than anything else.. menus!

I must say usually thats the way i do it in sims, but the engine sounds in LFS make it actually very difficult.. ive found myself shifting way too late often if i only go by the sound.. might get time to get used to but definitely dont come naturally like it usually does.

I guess some means to notify server if you dont want to race would be good.. also i still think that there should be a record of, if not best times but amount of wins maybe.. makes betting easier

Only stupid thing of me was to forget the amount of elitist attitude in sim racing (how i did, i dont know), ive been following thousands of discussions during my time in sim racing about realistic and whats not realistic, so much, that ive grown completely tired of it.. Only thing i care about personally nowadays is the amount of fun im having. No matter how elitist you try to get about it, its still only a damned a videogame, just like kids playing with toy cars.. the toys are just more expensive. Anyway, thanks to all who signed.. im gonna step out of this discussion (never leads anywhere, as any realistic/not realistic wont). Im going to have fun no matter how it is.. and frankly it wont even take at all time to get used to new look keys, since the new system is almost like in any other sim ive raced. Keep on arguing, maybe one day you achieve something with it

Ive been having fun with the game too, even got few wins and such.. but i must say just a moment ago got the worst experience yet with the game. There were two pretty fast drivers on the server (CTRA Race1), they were teammates and i was racing between em.. but the guy in front punted me to get his teamm8 by... It was so obvious that i cannot be mistaken about it. that sort of behaviour is just ridiculous.. i hope i wont ever see such again..

Im glad that theres some real discussion going on about this too, to me.. well.. i guess i need to explain a bit.

Im rather experienced simracer, doing it for very long. Well. One of the things that has always bothered me with many games.. is the lack of 90 degree view on the sides, and in general.. lack of options in configuring the game. Now that ive played LFS for a while, i cant think even describe how big improvement the look keys is compared to simply any other sim. In quarter of a second i can easily check what is happening around the car. It definitely helps racing close, and what most important safe. Ive never been an elitist searching for the ultimate realism, its impossible as long as controllers have pedals that brake with range and not pressure, and as said with monitors of today it will hardly be realistic. It may resemble the real thing, the physics can get close.. but no way its immersive enough ever for me to become a purist about ridiculous details. therefore like i said before what matters is safety and conveniency. About the other stuff in the patch.. i do like

Ive quit using the profiler long ago (gives more problems than does good), what i did use is a program called key delay with my button box (only in GTL, too many buttons for the game to understand), and i dont think that will help either. Tested a bit the mouselook program, it works fine.. maybe you lose some smoothness, but at least it works, even a treat.. so im happy with that one.. gotta test a little bit more though.

Yeah, instant 90 degree view on the side is something thats been on my wishlist for other sims for ages.. Like in Race07 look left/right is close to useless unless you have a super computer and can use mirrors and high resolution, even then its far from optimal..

Classic touring cars. GTL is maybe my all time favourite sim, and i love older cars. It would be great to see how LFS engine would work with old classics, mainly because the way you feel the weight transfer of the car is superior to anything else with LFS. Gotta love the FFB in this game!

You should see me racing, i could never use track IR, im all over my racing seat!

Hi, ive been racing for 5 days and loving it so far
I have quite bit of experience from sims, and thats my main hobby really. You can atm catch me at CTRA race1, spending most of the time there.

All i can say is safety over realism in this matter, the old way is far better. I really hope there will be an option rather than forcing the new system on us.
Ive always being amazed how no other game has stolen the LFS look buttons! pure gold the old system is!

It is so big thing to me that i hardly want to believe it. The feature i propably loved most in the game, and a feature i have missed in so many sims has been ruined. Yes, the look key system. It was amazingly easy to check around the car, this helps a great deal in racing as safe as possible.. Why not give an option? I mean.. why? Because few purists want to look into side mirror? Just please give us an option, it means a lot, and surely giving an option wont take away from anyone.
